In The Spotlight With DJ Grace

The Jokers Playhouse:  How long have you been DJing? How did you get your start and what has been your favorite gig?

DJ Grace:  I have been DJing for 3-4 years. I started DJing because a friend took the time to teach me and encouraged my love of music. I don't really think I have a favorite gig. My favorite type I guess is when someone says “I’ve never heard this song before, I love it!" kind of makes the whole set awesome. The

Jokers Playhouse:  As a female we know you love clothes and as well we know you are definitely up on your fashions. What would be your one items of fashion that is a MUST?

DJ Grace:  As far as clothing goes, I'm kind of conservative and I don't have my boobs out and ass fallin outta my pixel pants... but my favorite things about fashion are the accessories.

The Jokers Playhouse:  Thinking back on DJing in Second Life, what would be your fondest moment?

DJ Grace:  Again, no one actual moment I can pin-point. My best memories are of just having a bunch of friends around and just being silly. No one is judging you for what song you do or don't like just easy and open conversation and having fun with people, like SL should be.

The Jokers Playhouse: What would be your advice to anyone wanting to become a DJ in SL?

DJ Grace:  My advice for anyone wanting to be a DJ is don't burn out...  Yes VIPs are important but what’s more important is that you have fun...  Because if you aren't, they won't. DJ Grace is an amazing talent for the Jokers Playhouse. She works on Sundays from 6p-8p you do not want to miss her in action.

In The Spotlight With DJ Rumor

The Jokers Playhouse: You have been DJing for some time in SL, please tell us how did you get your start?

DJ Rumor: I’ve been a DJ for gosh about 6 years now.  I got my start after Hosting at numerous clubs...I remember sitting there listening to some pretty horrible DJs thinking...My God...anyone can do this LOL, So I bought my Sam software...asked a good friend how to set it up and the rest is history.

The Jokers Playhouse:  If you are in a set, you always seem so calm and have the perfect things to say. Do you ever get nervous when you DJ?

DJ Rumor: The only time I really get nervous is when its a HUGE event and I want things to go Perfectly...its at those times where everything goes wrong. But somehow it usually all comes together and everyone seems to have fun. Believe me I really never have anything set up to say...I kinda just say what pops in my head. I honestly think Loving to do it is key and really comes across when you are on mic.

The Jokers Playhouse: A year ago you were with DJ Fenom...and now DJ Malachi? Inquiring minds want to know? Who is the better DJ?

DJ Rumor: HaHa and I thought these were cookie cutter questions.

The Jokers playhouse: Now what fun would cookie cutter questions be?

DJ Rumor: If you are comparing the Fenom and Malachi, I would have to say Malachi....today he is a lot more relaxed and happy with himself and has better equipment..."Baby has a Boom" He has been said to sound like Howard Stern...quite the compliment I think...He has found his love for it again and I think he is amazing no matter what avie he is on. Now if you are asking who is better between him and I??? thats easier...ME of course....lol Truth be know our styles are different...one thing is the same though we both love to have fun and involving the audience is a very big part of that.

The Jokers Playhouse: What would be your go to store for womens hair?

DJ Rumor: HaHa Gawd you know me well....Hmm I have to pick 1? Ok Ok I guess my back up hair place would be either Wasabi Pills or Truth....but really they are like Lays Potato chips.. "you can't pick just one" *winks.

DJ rumor if you never caught one of our sets your truly missing out on an amazing show full of laughs and good tunes, Mark it on your calendar to catch one of her sets you won't be disappointed, She is a kind amazing DJ that makes sure each of her sets are a good time with good laughs good friends and great music, Along with her amazing DJ and awesome friendship I'm glad I had the chance to know Rumor along the way she a great person and wonderful friend.  I wish her and Mal a long lasting friendship as a friendship is an important key and I know there amazing friends and partners in life and in love, I wish you both nothing but the best for years to come you both amazing people and amazing DJ's.

In The Spotlight With Angie Heart Steerpike

The Jokers Playhouse;  You weren't always a DJ. Please tell us how you got your start in DJing?

Angie Heart Steerpike;   I was a dancer at a couple of different clubs for over a year. Several people encouraged me to become a DJ because they thought I would be good at it. Chad had been trying to get me to DJ for over a year, but I kept telling him no because it made me nervous. After a year, he set me up with SAM. He worked with me on how to use it until I felt comfortable. I started downloading music and just getting a feel for how everything worked. I went to Tristain Savon, and he set me up with a stream and some drops. He taught me a few more things about SAM. I had a conversation with Viper about possibly DJing for him, and he told me I was always welcome. With the support of my family and them giving me the final push to do it, I went back to Viper and asked if he would let me start DJing for him. He agreed, and that is where my journey has currently taken me.

The Jokers Playhouse;   You are a loving and caring mother. Everyone who knows you sees this...Do what mothers do best tell us about your children.

Angie Heart Steerpike; Oh my SL cubs are each so different yet alike in a way that makes our family so special. They came to me around this time last year and have brought so much light into my world and heart. Triple B, Baby Boy Balance, is my only son. He was the first I bonded with, and the one to really seal my fate with the others. We talked daily, and I gave him advice just as I would my own RL kids. I am not one to sugar coat something. I say what I think and what I mean. To that end, they starting calling me Mama Bear, and I became an SL mom. Bal is loving and caring. He loves to be right, and we tease him pretty much relentlessly because of his deep rooted need to be right. BLT, my beautiful lil Tiff, is so quiet that I didn't know if I would ever bond with her. One day I reached out to her, and we had a lovely chat. She is funny, witty, and smart. She isn't afraid to speak her mind, and I love that about her. Jaden, my Baby J, has this free spirit. I have laughed and cried with her. She always has a way of making me laugh and making the bond with the others so much stronger. When I am quiet to others, I have usually shared my inner thoughts with her. LaLa, my Lil Serendipity, was the last to come to me when the girls asked me to adopt her, and she accepted. Her southern charm tickles me all the time. She says and does things that can only be deemed 'southern'. None of them are perfect, but they are truly great people that I love deeply. Get to know them, and you will see what I have been blessed to see in them.

The Jokers Playhouse;  What are your hopes and dreams in life?

Angie Heart Steerpike;  My hopes are to live long enough to watch my RL kids grow and find a love that makes them feel happy and whole. I'm still at a point in my life where so much revolves around my children, so it's hard to think about other things. I know I want to marry Chad one day. I know I want to go to Italy one day. I have two wants career wise - 1) to do my work as an accountant for the government and 2) to teach accounting to college students.

The Jokers Playhouse; If you could marry any celebrity who would it be?

Angie Heart Steerpike; I guess I would say Blake Shelton. It's hard to know what celebs are really like outside of their 'roles', and personality is so important. He is funny, and everyone says he likes to joke around. I love to laugh. Of course if he smokes, that's a deal breaker. LOL!

In The Spotlight With DJ Junglist Diesel

The Jokers Playhouse; When and how did you get your start in DJing?

Junglist Diesel; I actually started in a program called RLC (Utherverse). At that time i knew nothing of Internet Djing. My time there i met an awesome and super funny DJ who kind of took me under his wing. I loved the way he was able to make large crowd laugh and i loved the thought of being able to move people with a certain song, EX: If someone was having a bad day and you played the one song or said that one thing that turned their day upside down, i wanted to be able to do that. There were no tips in that program, no way to make any money, it was all about the entertainment.

The Jokers Playhouse; You have a definitive sound that I feel people don't get immediately, but when they do they love it. Where did you come up with some of you "catch phrases' that you do?

Junglist Diesel; Its basically me up there, i bring in from where and how i was raised. "Keep it Locked" is just me saying keep being yourself,  keep it together, keep it tight, keep it right, locked it up and keep it., don't let it go. I said it one night and it just kinda stuck.

The Jokers Playhouse; What's your advice, if you could give it to newer DJs trying to get up and running?

Junglist Diesel; Be yourself 110% Don't put on any facades. Be energetic. No one likes a boring monotone DJ. Don't be afraid to talk, even during a song. Your not a jukebox, if someone wants to listen to the radio they can do that at home, DJing is as much about the music as it is about your personality. Anyone can play music, not every can entertain a crowd.

The Jokers Playhouse; Whats a MUST in your playlist?

Junglist Diesel; Good music? I play such a wide range of genre's at all times, theres really no definitive genre that anyone can put me to. I play what i like, i play what moves me or makes me laugh, i hope it does the same for anyone else listening and I'm always open to requests, no matter what it is or what genre, no matter what i might be playing at the time, so if what i am playing isn't what they like, at least they can get one they do.

In the Spotlight With Dj Malachi

So here at The Jokers Playhouse Blog we feel the need to take a moment and showcase out talent. Today we take a look at one of the most innovative DJs in Second Life. His “radio show” style sets have become infamous within SL Club lure and are still talked about to this day. DJ Malachi is our first featured spotlight staff member. We grabbed the Jokers Playhouse DJ and asked him a couple questions.

Jokers Playhouse Blog: Mal, thank you for taking the time out to answer these questions…Starting out, what would you say is your fondest memory of DJing in Secondlife?

DJ Malachi: I truly have so many fond memories that I am not sure I would be able to pick just one. Djing has been a great outlet for me and has lead me to so many of the friends I have. It is just a great outlet to express your self and make people laugh.

Jokers Playhouse Blog: You definitely do that for sure. So you obviously have a unique style with the “radio show” feel to your sets. It truly is an original set you do. What made you start it?

DJ Malachi: It has really just evolved as time has passed. For me, getting able to interact with the crowd is my sole purpose. Music allows you to express emotions and inspire so many different feelings. I have just found that laughter is the best medicine and being able to laugh at your self is just another reason for me to get on air week to week. If it ever becomes too routine, it is time to kick it up a notch.

Jokers Playhouse Blog: Well, no one can say your sets are “routine” by any means, ok last question. If you had one piece of advice for a new DJ, what would it be?

DJ Malachi: My advice would be to definitely be your self. Figure out what makes you different. Being a DJ is to be an entertainer. Be positive and use your talent to make the SL world a place of fun and friends.

We want to thank DJ Malachi for taking a few minutes out of his day to answer these questions for us. If you want to know more about DJ Malachi or where you can get more information about him please check out his facebook page www.facebook.com/sldj.mal To catch DJ Malachi LIVE at the Jokers Playhouse be sure to come down Wednesdays at 6-8 pm SLT.
