In The Spotlight With DJ Junglist Diesel

The Jokers Playhouse; When and how did you get your start in DJing?

Junglist Diesel; I actually started in a program called RLC (Utherverse). At that time i knew nothing of Internet Djing. My time there i met an awesome and super funny DJ who kind of took me under his wing. I loved the way he was able to make large crowd laugh and i loved the thought of being able to move people with a certain song, EX: If someone was having a bad day and you played the one song or said that one thing that turned their day upside down, i wanted to be able to do that. There were no tips in that program, no way to make any money, it was all about the entertainment.

The Jokers Playhouse; You have a definitive sound that I feel people don't get immediately, but when they do they love it. Where did you come up with some of you "catch phrases' that you do?

Junglist Diesel; Its basically me up there, i bring in from where and how i was raised. "Keep it Locked" is just me saying keep being yourself,  keep it together, keep it tight, keep it right, locked it up and keep it., don't let it go. I said it one night and it just kinda stuck.

The Jokers Playhouse; What's your advice, if you could give it to newer DJs trying to get up and running?

Junglist Diesel; Be yourself 110% Don't put on any facades. Be energetic. No one likes a boring monotone DJ. Don't be afraid to talk, even during a song. Your not a jukebox, if someone wants to listen to the radio they can do that at home, DJing is as much about the music as it is about your personality. Anyone can play music, not every can entertain a crowd.

The Jokers Playhouse; Whats a MUST in your playlist?

Junglist Diesel; Good music? I play such a wide range of genre's at all times, theres really no definitive genre that anyone can put me to. I play what i like, i play what moves me or makes me laugh, i hope it does the same for anyone else listening and I'm always open to requests, no matter what it is or what genre, no matter what i might be playing at the time, so if what i am playing isn't what they like, at least they can get one they do.
